King Fahd Medical City is located on a 50 hectare (125 acre) site in central Riyadh and is one of the most important tertiary referral hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The original complex became operational in 2002 and the masterplan prepared by us was commissioned to take the hospital through the period from 2011 to 2025, catering for a comprehensive re-organisation of the existing hospital and the addition of major new hospital departments.

Work included a full re-organisation of the hospitals site entrance and internal roadways and the introduction of new hospital streets to rationalise wayfinding within the 1,000,000 sq. m. complex.

New development on the KFMC campus includes a specialist Neuroscience and Cancer Centre, Proton Therapy Centre, New Laboratories and Stem Cell Research Centre, Consultant’s Offices, New OPD & ER, New car parking structures, new nursing and family accommodation for 5,000 staff and expansion of the existing Women’s, Children’s and Rehabilitation Hospitals along with internal re-organisation of the main hospital to provide a total of 2,000 beds.
