02 HQ
10,500 sq. m office headquarters fit-out
O2 commissioned RKD to design and implement the fit-out of their new six floor Dublin headquarters, comprising 10,500 sq. m. of commercial office space. The building is located on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay and overlooks the River Liffey. RKD have worked closely with O2 to design the physical layout and interior design of the headquarters. A six storey high, glazed atrium and external courtyard for O2’s exclusive use reflects the company’s core values of openness and trust; in addition, four glazed panoramic lifts overlook the atrium.
Staff at O2 enjoy a team based work environment and this is reflected in the building’s contemporary, open plan design. All workstations are located on the perimeter to take advantage of the outstanding river views and extensive natural daylight and allow for future flexibility.
All of the main “front of house” activities are grouped around the base of the atrium. These include a 270-seat staff restaurant, training rooms, customer meeting suites and reception area. A customer demonstration area is located adjacent to the reception space to take advantage of the river view.
The design approach also creates a sense of community by creating 3 separate zones within the open place layout, each with their own dedicated meeting spaces, support facilities and breakout areas designed to overlook the river. An executive area is located on the 4th floor with direct access to a generous landscaped terrace.
The O2 headquarters building also houses a series of information technology rooms, labs, demonstration areas and a System Management Centre. This striking and contemporary building embraces the latest innovations in office planning and serves to enhance and promote O2’s leadership in the communications field.
