Maplewood Somerton Mixed-Use Development, Adamstown
61,000 sq. m residential development
This 61 hectare residential development is located on the eastern portion of Adamstown, west of Dublin. The development is primarily residential in nature and will consist of approximately 600 dwellings, although the scheme will also include a crèche and some commercial retail accommodation. The integration of this development within this new town is paramount to ensure that a sense of social balance and sustainability within this new community is maintained and enhanced.
With extensive landscaping and contemporary architectural treatment of the buildings throughout the development, the intention is to strengthen the visual and physical links with the existing neighbouring developments and create a sense of place, whilst providing an individual identity for this project.
A total of 187 dwellings are to be provided within the first phase on a site of 21 hectares, at the north-eastern portion of Adamstown. The scheme contains a balanced mix of detached, semi-detached, terraced houses and apartments. Front and rear gardens are provided to each ground level unit and family-sized balconies are part of each upper level unit. A design emphasis has been placed on high levels of natural light and serene views of its surroundings within extensive landscaped gardens.
The crèche will relate closely to its extensive outdoor children’s play areas and is intended to be phased and provide adequate accommodation for a total of 160 children, for the whole of Somerton. The retail portion of the development and crèche is located on the far north portion of phase 1 and ties into the local existing commercial district.
