Kerry Group Global Technology & Innovation Centre
23,500 sq. m food development and production facility
This project deals with all aspects of Food Development and Production and is very much a client facing facility which facilitates the client’s interaction with Kerry Group and their products in every way.
The project brings together a number of facilities that are currently spread across a number of disparate sites, into one integrated state of the art facility. The ultimate “client” is also based in the U.S.A. The management of the design process and ensuring access to the client and the various user groups who will be brought together in this building has been a challenge which has been overcome through rigorous planning and scheduling of all necessary User Group meetings and Client interactions. Use of Webex conferences has facilitated communication between geographically disparate groups.
An early adoption of a strategy to secure a high LEED rating has driven a number of efficient and environmentally responsible solutions such as rainwater harvesting, Combined Heat and Power, Solar Water Heating.
Design methodology included the preparation of a comprehensive Masterplan for the site and development to ensure that early decisions did not in any way hamper flexibility as the design developed. A comprehensive series of User Group workshops were held throughout the design development and a great effort was made to build up a comprehensive understanding of the products and processes to be accommodated in the development. Close communication with the client and amongst the design team is key.
