A purpose built facility for treating children with congenital heart conditions has opened at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. The Children’s Heart Centre, which includes a 25-bed dedicated infant and child cardiac unit as well as support accommodation for families and staff, was built at a cost of €4.5 million by Clancy Construction under a design and build contract.

The new Cardiology Ward new build of steel frame construction was built directly above the recently completed paediatric intensive care unit while maintaining live the sensitive and critical unit below during construction. The project was funded by the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation and the Fix Crumlin campaign.
